HYDROFEND TFMA-6 by Chemodyn is a dry-melt hydrophobic and oleophobic additive designed for use with polypropylene, polycarbonate, and other plastics—ideal for manufacturing low-retention pipette tips and lab devices.

When compounded into polypropylene at just 0.5%, TFMA-6 enhances plastic components with water-, oil-, buffer-, and solvent-repellent properties. It helps prevent adhesion of biological fluids and various laboratory materials to device surfaces.

  • Achieving a uniform distribution of TFMA-6 within the polypropylene is essential.

  • The resulting mixture or composite is then ready for injection moulding, using instructions suitable for the specific parts being manufactured.

  • The TFMA-6-infused composite should not be exposed to temperatures exceeding 250°C.
